Bundle - Organic Chemistry Study Guide with Timed Online Full-Year Practice Exam (One Time Use)
Bundle includes 1) Organic Chemistry Study Guide
ISBN: 978-1-7327764-1-8
This paperback guide includes 240 pages of information separated into First-Term Organic Chemistry material and additional Full-Year Organic Chemistry material. Each section contains chapters that align to most Organic chemistry textbooks for a seamless addition to study materials for students.
Each chapter is designed with three sections:
- Introductory section of the material, including common representations and where to find this material in a textbook.
- Worked examples of typical multiple-choice questions, A.K.A. Study Questions (SQs), including how the correct and incorrect answers are determined.
- A series of Practice Questions (PQs) to test the concepts collectively. The key is provided on a separate page for all Practice and Study Questions. Each Study Question also includes a listing of the corresponding Practice Questions that employ the same concepts.
Chapters in the study guide are as follows:
First-Term Material:
-
- Structure: Shape and Stability
- Structure: Nomenclature and Functional Groups
- Structure: Constitutional, Stereochemical & Conformational Isomers
- Acids and Bases

2) Full-Year Timed Online Organic Chemistry Practice Exam
This practice exam is designed for the full-year ACS Organic Chemistry Exam. Students looking to purchase this practice exam should be careful to make sure their instructor is using an ACS Exam from some time in the past 10 years. If the exam is from before then, the use of this practice exam may not be as effective.
For the most helpful experience, students should take this as though they are sitting an actual exam: in a quiet environment, with scratch paper, and without using previous notes.
The exam includes a timer to simulate a timed-test environment; however, this is simply to get a feel for the amount of time offered during an actual ACS exam, and this practice exam will not automatically close once the maximum time is reached.
In addition to answering the questions, the student is asked to estimate the amount of mental effort they used to answer that question. Once the practice exam is completed, a report will provide information about how accurately questions were answered based on content area, and how the various topics rate in terms of challenge as measured by the mental effort estimation. This combination can help students set priorities for continued study prior to taking the actual ACS exam.
The content areas in the report will align with chapters in the ACS Organic Chemistry Study Guide, so referencing the study guide following the practice exam will be beneficial in practicing as much as possible.
This is not a tutorial that walks the student through the questions.
This is a one-time use tool. Retaking the practice exam will not provide a good measure of preparedness, as some of the items will be remembered from the first time it was taken. If re-ordered, students will see the same set of questions.
